Mantra

A mantra is a word or phrase that is repeated to bring your focus to this intention.

To perform a mantra meditation, choose a word or sentence that feels meaningful to you. You might choose OM, love, a person’s name, or a sentence of a resolution/sankapla or goal. Choose something you want to bring your awareness to or something you want to manifest in your life. Perhaps choose “I am at peace” or “I am comfortable in my own shoes.”

Repeat either out loud or silently in your mind your mantra for a duration of time or a set number of repetitions. When starting out, working for a time duration can be easier; you can set a timer to know when to end. You might also work with a mala of 108 beads if you wish to repeat your mantra 108 times, passing a single bead between your fingers on each repetition. This repetition of your mantra is called japa meditation.
