3-part Breath

3-part Breath or Dirga Swasam: sequentially breathing into the upper chest, middle ribs, and belly, then exhaling out of the belly, ribs, then chest. (This can also be done in the reverse order, starting inhaling into the belly and exhaling from the chest first and belly last.) This pranayama is most appropriate for restorative yoga postures (much like natural breath).
